Figure Analogies

This Figure Analogies is similar to the Verbal Analogies and it assesses students' inductive and deductive reasoning. The test presents a pair of figures and a third figure. Students are asked to select a figure from a set of figures that, when combined with the third figure, will have the same kind of relationship that exists between the original pair of figures.

The following are the basic steps and tips in answering a question:
  • Try to determine the relationship between the first pair of figures.
  • Eliminate any choices that don't have the same relationship with the given pair.
  • If there is only one figure left, it should be the answer. Otherwise, you may need to re-identify other relationships you may missed for the first pair of figures and re-check the answer choices.
Pairs of figures can be related in many ways, including the following:
  • Turning certain degree:
    1.  The first two figures go together. The third figure goes with one of the answer choices. Choose the answer choice that goes with the third figure.
